FAQ about products

What is the difference between an infrared thermometer with a probe and one without a probe?

Our infrared thermometers come in two types: with a K-type thermocouple probe and without a probe (infrared only). Here are the key differences:
✅ Infrared Thermometer with Probe (IR + K-Type Thermocouple)
Supports both non-contact surface temperature measurement (infrared mode) and contact-based internal temperature measurement (probe mode).
Ideal for measuring liquids, food, oven interiors, and engine components where internal temperature is crucial.
K-type probe measurement range: -58°F to 572°F (-50°C to 300°C), narrower than infrared but suitable for direct contact measurements.
Best for cooking, food safety inspections, laboratories, and industrial applications requiring precise internal temperature readings.
✅ Infrared Thermometer without Probe (IR Only)
Supports non-contact temperature measurement only, ideal for hot, hazardous, or hard-to-reach surfaces.
Features a wider measurement range (-58°F to 1796°F / -50°C to 980°C) and allows long-distance temperature measurement.
Suitable for industrial inspections, electrical maintenance, mechanical repairs, and cooking (pizza ovens, BBQs, etc.).
💡 How to Choose?
If you only need to measure surface temperature (e.g., ovens, engines, metal surfaces), choose an infrared thermometer without a probe.
If you need to measure liquids, food, or internal engine temperatures, an infrared thermometer with a K-type probe will provide more accurate internal temperature readings.

What is the measurement range of the temperature gun?

Our infrared temperature gun supports the following temperature ranges: Infrared mode (IR): -58°F to 1022°F/-58°F to 1796°F/-58°F to 2732°F/-58°F to 3992°F, you can choose according to your usage scenario;
K-type thermocouple mode: -58°F to 572°F/-4°F to 932°F
Suitable for industrial inspection, cooking, car repair, electrical maintenance and other scenarios.

Can the emissivity of the temperature gun be adjusted?

Yes! This product supports adjustable emissivity from 0.1 to 0.99, which can be adapted to different materials:
Metal surface (such as aluminum, stainless steel): recommended 0.3 - 0.5;
Plastic, wood: recommended 0.85 - 0.95;
Ceramic, paper: recommended 0.9 - 0.98; For more specific emissivity, you can choose according to the detailed material type in the manual. At the same time, you can also adjust the emissivity through experiments to obtain more accurate temperature measurement results.

Does the temperature gun need special calibration when used?

No calibration is usually required. If the measurement results are highly deviated, you can refer to the following methods:
Test with a standard temperature object (such as boiling water 100°C or ice water 0°C). Adjust the emissivity to ensure that it matches the material of the object being measured. Ensure the environment adaptation time. When the device just goes from a cold environment to a hot environment, it is recommended to wait for 10-15 minutes before use.

User Guide

How to use the temperature gun correctly?

1️⃣ Install the battery:
Open the battery cover and install the battery correctly, making sure the positive and negative poles are in the correct direction.
⚠ Note: When installing the battery, the temperature gun may emit a laser briefly. Please avoid the direction of the gun head to prevent the laser from shining directly into your eyes.
2️⃣ Turn on: Press the trigger button and the device will automatically turn on.
3️⃣ Measure temperature:
Infrared mode (IR): Aim at the target surface, press and hold the trigger button to measure, and the screen will display the temperature value.
Probe mode (only for models with probe): Insert a K-type thermocouple probe, touch the surface of the object or insert it into the liquid to read the internal temperature.
4️⃣ Adjust the emissivity (IR mode only):
The default emissivity is 0.95, which is suitable for most non-metallic materials.
Can be manually adjusted from 0.1 - 0.99 to adapt to different materials (such as metal, plastic, ceramic).
5️⃣ Switch units: Press and hold the °C/°F button to select Celsius or Fahrenheit display mode.
6️⃣ View maximum/minimum temperature: Press the MAX/MIN button to view the highest and lowest temperatures of this measurement.
7️⃣ Backlight & Auto Power Off: Turn on/off the LCD backlight, and the device will automatically shut down after 15 seconds of inactivity to save power.

Can it be used for human body temperature measurement?

🚫 Not recommended for human body temperature measurement!
This thermometer is designed for surface temperature measurement of objects and is not suitable for human or animal body temperature measurement.
It is recommended to use a special medical infrared forehead thermometer for human body temperature measurement to ensure accuracy and safety.

Why should you avoid using it in smoke or dust?

🚫 Avoid measuring in smoke, steam or dusty environments!
Infrared rays may be scattered by particles in the air, resulting in inaccurate measurement data.
If you must use it in a smoke or dusty environment, it is recommended to get as close to the object as possible and reduce interference in the measurement path.

How to measure reflective materials such as glass or stainless steel?

Highly reflective surfaces such as glass and polished metal (such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy) will affect the accuracy of infrared measurement.
Recommended method: Put a small piece of black tape or matte tape on the measurement point and let the temperature gun measure the temperature of the tape to obtain more accurate data.

How to measure hot surfaces?

Keep a safe distance and avoid getting close to hot objects (such as furnaces and engines). Keep pressing the trigger to measure to avoid temperature fluctuations in a short period of time affecting the measurement accuracy. If higher accuracy is required, multiple measurements can be made under fixed measurement conditions and the average value can be taken.
